For one reason or other these above listed units are known to be Brookfield products. You may have other insulators with this on the top of the dome.

Brookfield exported vast amounts of their insulators to Canada from at least as early as 1880 up until their last days of production circa 1920. Brookfield made the CD 145 G.T.P. // B insulator and, according to the 1912 Brookfield catalogue "Particular attention is paid to the manufacture of insulators conforming to customer's own designs and the drawings and specifications of their engineers."

In 1881 Harvey Prentice Dwight, an American, became vice-president of the Great North Western Telegraph Co. By 1883 he had become president and manager of the G.N.W.T.C. At the time of Dwight's death in 1912, he was still president of G.N.W. The G.N.W. Tel. Co. was owned by American interests between 1881, a year after its inception, and 1915, when it was taken over by the Canadian Northern Telegraph Co.

More than this I can't say without some speculation, but it certainly raises a few more questions. Did H. P. Dwight have anything to do with the design of the CD 740 while working as a telegraph operator for Montreal Tel. Co.? Why was the G.N.W. originally preceding DWIGHT blocked out? What about the other split base 143's? Did the CD 145 G.N.W. TEL. CO.s supercede the CD 143's? What other Canadian marked insulators can be attributed to foreign companies? What about the Gisbourne Pattern?

?????????????????????????????????????????????

Any Brookfield specialists care to date these Dwights?
